ABSTRACT

Objective: Based on a cohort and intervention study of the Eastern Chinese Student Surveillance, Cohort and Intervention Study (ES-SCI), this research aims to explore the correlation between monitor of the school environment and longitudinal data on myopia and provide evidence for the government myopia intervention strategy. Methods: This survey adopts the stratified cluster sampling method with the school as the unit. Students from grade 1 to grade 3 were selected according to the whole class to monitor the school environment in the classroom. Students will use the full-automatic computer optometer (TOPCON RM800) to conduct optometry from 2019 to 2021 under the condition of mydriasis to perform refractive eye examinations. Meantime eye axis length monitoring was also conducted. Cox proportional risk regression model was used to explore the relationship between school environmental monitoring and the occurrence and development of students' myopia. Results: From 2019 to 2021, 2 670 students from 77 classrooms participated in the observation study. The students' diopter after right/left eye mydriasis decreased in varying degrees (P<0.001), and the axial length of the right/left eye increased in various degrees (P<0.001). The weighted qualified rate of per capita area of primary school classrooms increased from 18.0% in 2019 to 26.0% in 2021, the weighted average illuminance pass rate of blackboard surface increased from 23.8% in 2019 to 26.4% in 2021, and the weighted average illuminance pass rate of classroom table decreased from 86.7% in 2019 to 77.5% in 2021. The trend chi-square test was significant (P<0.05). Cox proportional risk regression showed that after correcting for the grade, gender, parental myopia, diet, sleep, near work (sitting posture, working time, electronic mobile equipment, eye exercises), and outdoor activities, the per capita area of 1.36- m2 was the protective factor of eye axis length (HR=0.778, 95%CI: 0.659-0.918, P=0.003); The average reflection ratio of blackboard 0.15-0.19 was the protective factor of eye axis length (HR=0.685, 95%CI: 0.592-0.793, P<0.001); The average illumination of the blackboard 150-, 300-, 500- lx was the protective factor of the eye axis length (HR=0.456, 95%CI: 0.534-0.761, P<0.001; HR=0.794, 95%CI: 0.705-0.895, P<0.001; HR=0.690, 95%CI: 0.619-0.768, P<0.001). The blackboard evenness 0.40-0.59 was the risk factor of eye axis length (HR=1.528, 95%CI: 1.018-2.293, P=0.041), and the blackboard evenness 0.80- was the protection factor of eye axis length (HR=0.542, 95%CI: 0.404-0.726, P<0.001). The evenness of the desktop 0.40-0.59 was the protective factor of eye axis length (HR=0.820, 95%CI: 0.698-0.965, P=0.017). The average illuminance of 150-, 300-, 500- lx was the protective factor of a diopter (HR=0.638, 95%CI: 0.534-0.761, P<0.001; HR=0.911, 95%CI: 0.848-0.978, P=0.011; HR=0.750, 95%CI: 0.702-0.801, P<0.001). The average illumination of desktop 500- lx was a protective factor of a diopter (HR=0.855, 95%CI: 0.763-0.958, P=0.007). Conclusion: School environmental monitoring indicators, such as meeting per capita area standards, passing blackboard, and desk top-related indicators, all play protective effects on myopia development in students.

ABSTRACT

PURPOSE@#This study aims to elucidate the electrotaxis response of alveolar epithelial cells (AECs) in direct-current electric fields (EFs), explore the impact of EFs on the cell fate of AECs, and lay the foundation for future exploitation of EFs for the treatment of acute lung injury.@*METHODS@#AECs were extracted from rat lung tissues using magnetic-activated cell sorting. To elucidate the electrotaxis responses of AECs, different voltages of EFs (0, 50, 100, and 200 mV/mm) were applied to two types of AECs, respectively. Cell migrations were recorded and trajectories were pooled to better demonstrate cellular activities through graphs. Cell directionality was calculated as the cosine value of the angle formed by the EF vector and cell migration. To further demonstrate the impact of EFs on the pulmonary tissue, the human bronchial epithelial cells transformed with Ad12-SV40 2B (BEAS-2B cells) were obtained and experimented under the same conditions as AECs. To determine the influence on cell fate, cells underwent electric stimulation were collected to perform Western blot analysis.@*RESULTS@#The successful separation and culturing of AECs were confirmed through immunofluorescence staining. Compared with the control, AECs in EFs demonstrated a significant directionality in a voltage-dependent way. In general, type Ⅰ alveolar epithelial cells migrated faster than type Ⅱ alveolar epithelial cells, and under EFs, these two types of cells exhibited different response threshold. For type Ⅱ alveolar epithelial cells, only EFs at 200 mV/mm resulted a significant difference to the velocity, whereas for, EFs at both 100 mV/mm and 200 mV/mm gave rise to a significant difference. Western blotting suggested that EFs led to an increased expression of a AKT and myeloid leukemia 1 and a decreased expression of Bcl-2-associated X protein and Bcl-2-like protein 11.@*CONCLUSION@#EFs could guide and accelerate the directional migration of AECs and exert antiapoptotic effects, which indicated that EFs are important biophysical signals in the re-epithelialization of alveolar epithelium in lung injury.

ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVE@#To evaluate the characteristics of severe periodontitis with various number of tooth loss during 4-year natural progression, and to analyze the factors related to higher rate of tooth loss.@*METHODS@#A total of 217 patients aged 15 to 44 years with severe periodontitis were included, who participated in a 4-year natural progression research. Data obtained from questionnaire survey, clinical examination and radiographic measurement. Tooth loss during 4-year natural progression was evaluated. The baseline periodontal disease related and caries related factors were calculated, including number of teeth with bone loss > 50%, number of missing molars, number of teeth with widened periodontal ligament space (WPDL), number of teeth with periapical lesions and etc. Characteristics of populations with various number of tooth loss and the related factors that affected higher rate of tooth loss were analyzed.@*RESULTS@#In 4 years of natural progression, 103 teeth were lost, and annual tooth loss per person was 0.12±0.38. Nine patients lost 3 or more teeth. Thirty-four patients lost 1 or 2 teeth, and 174 patients were absent of tooth loss. Molars were mostly frequent to lose, and canines presented a minimum loss. The number of teeth with WPDL, with periapical lesions, with intrabony defects, with probing depth (PD)≥7 mm, with PD≥5 mm, with clinical attachment loss≥5 mm, with bone loss > 50% and with bone loss > 65% were positively correlated to number of tooth loss. Results from orderly multivariate Logistic regression showd that the number of teeth with bone loss > 50% OR=1.550), baseline number of molars lost (OR=1.774), number of teeth with WPDL (1 to 2: OR=1.415; ≥3: OR=13.105), number of teeth with periapical lesions (1 to 2: OR=4.393; ≥3: OR=9.526) and number of teeth with caries/residual roots (OR=3.028) were significant risk factors related to higher likelihood of tooth loss and multiple tooth loss.@*CONCLUSION@#In 4 years of natural progression, the number of teeth with bone loss > 50%, baseline number of missing molars, number of teeth with WPDL, baseline number of teeth with periapical lesions and number of teeth with caries/residual roots were significantly related to higher risk of tooth loss and multiple tooth loss among Chinese young and middle-aged patients with severe periodontitis in rural areas.

ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVE@#To analyze the association between exposure to second-hand smoke (SHS) and 23 diseases, categorized into four classifications, among the Chinese population.@*METHODS@#We searched the literature up to June 30, 2021, and eligible studies were identified according to the PECOS format: Participants and Competitors (Chinese population), Exposure (SHS), Outcomes (Disease or Death), and Study design (Case-control or Cohort).@*RESULTS@#In total, 53 studies were selected. The odds ratio (OR) for all types of cancer was 1.79 (1.56-2.05), and for individual cancers was 1.92 (1.42-2.59) for lung cancer, 1.57 (1.40-1.76) for breast cancer, 1.52 (1.12-2.05) for bladder cancer, and 1.37 (1.08-1.73) for liver cancer. The OR for circulatory system diseases was 1.92 (1.29-2.85), with a value of 2.29 (1.26-4.159) for stroke. The OR of respiratory system diseases was 1.76 (1.13-2.74), with a value of 1.82 (1.07-3.11) for childhood asthma. The original ORs were also shown for other diseases. Subgroup analyses were performed for lung and breast cancer. The ORs varied according to time period and were significant during exposure in the household; For lung cancer, the OR was significant in women.@*CONCLUSION@#The effect of SHS exposure in China was similar to that in Western countries, but its definition and characterization require further clarification. Studies on the association between SHS exposure and certain diseases with high incidence rates are insufficient.

ABSTRACT

Objective:To explore the application and practice of "flipped classroom" in the teaching of general surgery interns. Methods:A total of 20 internship groups (3 to 5 people in each group) were randomly selected from the general surgery practice group in the Department of General Surgery of the Second Clinical Medical College of North Sichuan Medical College. They were randomly divided into the flipped group (45 people) and the traditional group (40 people), with 10 subgroups in each group. The flipped group adopted the flipped classroom teaching mode (students' self-study by handing out materials before class, students and teachers' discussion in class, and students and teachers' evaluation after class), while the control group adopted the current conventional teaching mode (students' preview before class, teachers' explanation in class, and teachers' question answering after class). At the end of the teaching, a questionnaire was used to evaluate the participation and completion of each student. The teaching effect was evaluated by medical history collection and case analysis. The participation, completion, and teaching effect between the two groups were compared and analyzed. SPSS 23.0 software was used for t-test and Chi-square test. Results:The participation of the flipped group was better than that of the traditional group [(17.45±1.83) vs. (15.57±1.52)], and the difference was statistically significant ( P < 0.05). There was no statistically significant difference between the flipped group and the traditional group. There was no significant difference in medical history collection scores between the two groups. The case analysis of the flipped group was better than that of the traditional group [(87.30±6.06) vs. (81.50±5.88), P < 0.05]. The questionnaire shows that about 90% of the students think that flipped classroom can improve their interest in learning [96% (43/45)], improve their autonomous learning ability [89% (40/45)], and have better learning effect. At the same time, 78% (35/45) of students think that learning time is too long. Conclusion:The flipped classroom teaching model can improve the teaching participation of general surgery students, improve students' interest in learning, improve their self-learning ability, and improve students' thinking ability of medical record analysis.

ABSTRACT

Retrograde peri-implantitis (RPI), a kind of rare biological complication in implant-supported prosthetic rehabilitation, has been reported more frequently in recent years. RPI is defined as the periapical lesion that occurs following implant placement while the coronal part of the implant achieves normal osseointegration. Due to the possibilities of asymptomatic clinical scenarios, RPI can easily be ignored if routine radiographic examination is absent postoperatively, which may postpone treatment and affect long-term outcome. The common cause is infection originating from the periapical lesion of the neighboring teeth, the residual bacteria at the implant site, the contaminated implant apex and etc. Treatment methods rely on the infection source and severity of defect. This article discusses the diagnosis, classification, etiology, and pathology as well as prevention and treatment of RPI in order to provide evidence for clinical decisions in the future.

ABSTRACT

Objective: To investigate the value of MDM2 RNA in situ hybridization (RNA-ISH) in diagnosing atypical lipomatous tumor/well-differentiated liposarcoma (ALT/WDL) and dedifferentiated liposarcoma (DDL). Methods: A total of 26 ALT/WDL/DDLs diagnosed from March 2017 to May 2019 in West China Hospital, Sichuan University, Chengdu, China and 18 control cases were included. MDM2 RNA-ISH was performed on all samples and compared with the fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH) and immunohistochemistry (IHC) regarding their performance in detecting MDM2. Results: All samples were detected successfully using the three methods. Among 26 ALT/WDL/DDLs, all cases showed MDM2 amplification and positivity for MDM2 RNA-ISH (26/26, 100%). Twenty-four (24/26, 92.3%) of the 26 tested cases were positive for MDM2 IHC while two of them were negative. Eighteen control cases were all negative for MDM2 FISH and RNA-ISH, and 15 (15/18) cases were negative for MDM2 IHC. The sensitivity and specificity of RNA-ISH were both 100%, and those of MDM2 IHC were 92.3% and 83.3%, respectively. Diffuse staining was identified in all MDM2 RNA-ISH positive ALT/WDL/DDLs, but identified in only 8/24 (33.3%) of the MDM2 IHC positive cases. Among the 11 ALT/WDL/DDL samples evaluated on tissue microarray, the positive rate of MDM2 RNA-ISH was 100% with diffuse staining in all cases. The positive rate of MDM2 IHC was 9/11 while only 1 of the 9 cases showed diffuse staining. The result of MDM2 RNA-ISH was identical to that of MDM2 FISH and was overall consistent with that of MDM2 IHC (Kappa=0.763, P<0.001). Conclusions: In ALT/WDL/DDLs, results of MDM2 RNA-ISH are highly consistent with those of FISH. MDM2 RNA-ISH is more sensitive and more specific and has more diffuse positive signals than the IHC. The findings indicate that MDM2 RNA-ISH is highly valuable for the diagnosis and differential diagnosis of ALT/WDL/DDLs.

ABSTRACT

Objective: To study the effects of Homeobox C10 (HOXC10) on biological characteristics such as migration, invasion and proliferation of glioma cancer cells and to explore the role of HOXC10 gene in glioma microenvironment. Methods: The expression level of HOXC10 in high grade glioma (glioblastoma) and low grade glioma and its effect on patient survival were analyzed by using The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) and Chinese Glioma Genome Atlas (CGGA) database. Hoxc10-siRNA-1, HOXC10-siRNA-2 and siRNA negative control (NC) were transfected into U251 cells according to the operation instructions of HOXC10-siRNA transfection. 100 ng/ mL recombinant protein chemokine ligand 2 (reCCL2) was added into the transfection group, and was labeled as HOXC10-siRNA-1+ reCCL2 and HOXC10-siRNA-2+ reCCL2 groups. The expressions of HOXC10 mRNA and target protein in each group was detected by real-time fluorescence quantitative polymerase chain reaction (qRT-PCR) and western blot. The proliferation ability of cells in each group was detected by cell counting kit 8 (CCK8) method. The migration ability of cells was detected by Transwell assay and Nick assay, and cell apoptosis was detected by flow cytometry. The expression of chemokines in each group was detected by multiple factors. Co-incubation assays were performed to determine the role of HOXC10 and chemokine ligand 2 (CCL2) in recruiting and polarizing tumor-associated macrophages (M2-type macrophages). Results: The median expression level of HOXC10 in high grade gliomas was 8.51, higher than 1.00 in low grade gliomas (P<0.001) in TCGA database. The median expression level of HOXC10 in high grade gliomas was 0.83, higher than 0.00 in low grade gliomas (P=0.002) in CGGA database. The 5-year survival rate of patients with high HOXC10 expression in TCGA database was 28.2%, lower than 78.7% of those with low HOXC10 expression (P<0.001), and the 5-year survival rate of patients with high HOXC10 expression in CGGA database was 20.3%, lower than 58.0% of those with low HOXC10 expression (P<0.001). The expressions of vimentin in HOXC10-siRNA-1 group and HOXC10-siRNA-2 group were (141 740.00±34 024.56) and (94 655.00±5 687.97), N-cadherin were (76 810.00±14.14) and (94 254.00±701.45), β-catenin were (75 786.50±789.84) and (107 296.50±9 614.53), lower than (233 768.50±34 114.37), (237 154.50±24 715.50) and (192 449.50±24 178.10) of NC group (P<0.05). The A value of HOXC10-siRNA-1 group and HOXC10-siRNA-2 group were (0.44±0.05) and (0.32±0.02) at 96 hours, lower than 0.92±0.12 of NC group (P<0.05). The apoptosis rates of HOXC10-siRNA-1 group and HOXC10 siRNA-2 group were (10.23±1.24)% and (13.81±2.16)%, higher than (4.60±0.07)% of NC group (P<0.05). The expression levels of CCL2 in U251 cells in HOXC10-siRNA-1 and HOXC10-siRNA-2 groups were (271.63±44.27) and (371.66±50.21), lower than (933.93±29.84) in NC group (P<0.05). The expression levels of CCL5 (234.81±5.95 and 232.62±5.72), CXCL10 (544.13±48.14 and 500.87±15.65) and CXCL11 (215.75±15.30 and 176.18±16.49) in HOXC10-siRNA-1 and HOXC10-siRNA-2 groups were higher than those in NC group (9.98±0.71, 470.54±18.84 and 13.55±0.73, respectively, P<0.05). The recruited numbers of CD14(+) THP1 in HOXC10-siRNA-1 and HOXC10-siRNA-2 groups were (159.33±1.15) and (170.67±1.15), respectively, lower than (360.00±7.81) in NC group (P<0.05), while addition of reCCL2 promoted the recruitment of CD14(+) THP1 cells (287.00±3.61 and 280.67±2.31 in HOXC10-siRNA-1+ reCCL2 group and HOXC10-siRNA-2+ reCCL2 group, respectively, P<0.05). The expressions level of M2-type macrophage-related gene TGF-β in HOXC10-siRNA-1 group and HOXC10-siRNA-2 group were (0.30±0.02) and (0.28±0.02), respectively, lower than (1.06±0.10) in NC group (P<0.05). The expressions level of M1-related gene NOS2 in HOXC10-siRNA-1 and HOXC10-siRNA-2 were (11 413.95±1 911.85) and (5 894.00±945.21), respectively, higher than (13.39±4.32) in NC group (P<0.05). Conclusions: The expression of HOXC10 in glioma is high and positively correlated with the poor prognosis of glioma patients. Knockdown of HOXC10 can inhibit the proliferation, migration and metastasis of human glioma U251 cells. HOXC10 may play an immunosuppressive role in glioma microenvironment by promoting the expression of CCL2 and recruiting and polarizing tumor-associated macrophages (M2 macrophages).

ABSTRACT

The quality control and evaluation methods of Schizonepeta tenuifolia were established by HPLC fingerprint, multi index component content determination and chemical pattern recognition to provide basis for the quality control of medicinal materials. The chemical components of 25 batches of Schizonepeta tenuifolia panicle medicinal materials and decoction pieces collected were analyzed by high performance liquid chromatography, and the common pattern of fingerprint was established. A total of 22 common chromatographic peaks were calibrated, and their similarity was more than 0.9. The samples were divided into three categories according to different producing areas by cluster analysis. The results of principal component analysis and cluster analysis were consistent. Finally, five differential markers of different batches of Schizonepeta tenuifolia were selected by orthogonal partial least squares discriminant analysis. Through the identification of the reference substance, it was determined that peak 9 was hesperidin, peak 10 was rosmarinic acid, peak 13 was tilianin, peak 14 was quercetin, and peak 20 was pulegone. The quality evaluation method established in this study is stable and reliable, and is suitable for the quality control of Schizonepeta tenuifolia.

ABSTRACT

Purpose@#This study aimed to compare the ability of B-mode ultrasonography and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) to predict the repairability of large-to-massive rotator cuff tears (RCTs). @*Methods@#This cross-sectional study included participants with large-to-massive RCTs who underwent arthroscopic repair. B-mode ultrasonography and MRI were conducted prior to arthroscopic repair. B-mode ultrasonography was used to evaluate the echogenicity of the rotator cuff muscle using the Heckmatt scale. Intra-rater and inter-rater reliabilities were examined for two independent physicians. MRI was used to evaluate the degrees of tendon retraction, fatty infiltration of rotator cuff muscles, and muscle atrophy. Finally, two experienced orthopedic surgeons performed surgery and decided whether the torn stump could be completely repaired intraoperatively. @*Results@#Fifty participants were included, and 32 complete repairs and 18 partial repairs were performed. B-mode ultrasonography showed good intra-rater reliability and inter-rater reliability for assessment of the muscle echogenicity of the supraspinatus and infraspinatus muscles. The correlation coefficients between B-mode ultrasound findings and MRI findings showed medium to large effect sizes (r=0.4-0.8). The Goutallier classification of the infraspinatus muscles was the MRI predictor with the best discriminative power for surgical reparability (area under the curve [AUC], 0.89; 95% confidence interval [CI], 0.81 to 0.98), while the Heckmatt scale for infraspinatus muscles was the most accurate ultrasound predictor (AUC, 0.85; 95% CI, 0.74 to 0.96). No significant differences in AUCs among the MRI and ultrasound predictors were found. @*Conclusion@#B-mode ultrasonography was a reliable examination tool and had a similar ability to predict surgical reparability to that of MRI among patients with large-to-massive RCTs.

ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVE@#To investigate the effect and involved mechanism of RSL3 on ferroptosis action in acute leukemia cells MOLM13 and its drug-resistant cells.@*METHODS@#After MOLM13 treated with RSL3, CCK-8 assay was performed to detect cell viability, flow cytometry was used to detect the reactive oxygen species (ROS) level of the cells, RT-qPCR and Western blot were used to detect the expression of glutathione peroxidase 4 (GPX4). After MOLM13/IDA and MOLM13/Ara-C, the drug-resistant cell lines were constructed, the ferroptosis induced by RSL3 was observed. Bone marrow samples were collected from patients with acute monocytic leukemia. RT-qPCR and Western blot were performed to detect the expression of related genes and proteins involved in ferroptosis pathway.@*RESULTS@#RSL3 significantly inhibited the cell viability of MOLM13 and increased the intracellular ROS level, which were partially reversed by ferrostatin-1. The mRNA and protein expression of GPX4 decreased in MOLM13 treated with RSL3. RSL3 inhibited the viability of MOLM13/IDA and MOLM13/Ara-C cells more strongly than that of non-drug resistant cells, also increased the intracellular ROS level . The cytotoxic effects were partially reversed by ferrostatin-1. The mRNA and protein expressions of GPX4 in MOLM13/IDA and MOLM13/Ara-C cells were higher than those in non-drug resistant cells. The mRNA and protein levels of GPX4 in bone marrow of relapsed/refractory acute mononuclear leukemia patients were higher than those of ordinary acute mononuclear leukemia patients.@*CONCLUSION@#RSL3 can induce non-drug resistant cells MOLM13 ferroptosis by inhibiting GPX4 activity. MOLM13/IDA and MOLM13/Ara-C are more sensitive to RSL3 compared with non-drug resistant cells MOLM13, which may be caused by the differences in GPX4 expression. The expressions of GPX4 mRNA and protein in relapsed/refractory acute mononuclear leukemia are higher than those in ordinary acute mononuclear leukemia.

ABSTRACT

Sempervirine, a yohimbane-type alkaloid isolated from Gelsemium elegans, was found to significantly inhibit the cellular proliferation of U251 cells in vitro and in vivo in a dose-dependent manner. U251 cells were treated with 0-16 μmol·L-1 of sempervirine for 24, 48 or 72 h. An MTT assay and clone formation assay were used to investigate cell survival and clone formation. Hoechst staining and Annexin V-FITC/PI staining were used to measure cell apoptosis. The expression of PI3K, AKT, p-AKT, Bax, Bcl-2, caspase-3 and cleaved caspase-3 was determined by Western blot analysis. The antitumor effect of sempervirine in vivo was investigated by inoculating nude mice with U251 cells. All animal experiments were in strict accordance with the regulations of the Biomedical Ethics Committee of Fujian Medical University (Fujian, China). The results show that sempervirine significantly inhibits the proliferation and induces the apoptosis of U251 cells, promotes cleavage of caspase-3, down-regulates the protein expression of PI3K and Bcl-2/Bax, and inhibits phosphorylation of AKT in vitro. Intraperitoneal injection of 4 or 8 mg·kg-1·day-1 of sempervirine inhibits U251 cells tumor growth in the xenograft nude mice, and tumor weight decreased by 44.76% and 61.26%, respectively. Our study shows that sempervirine significantly inhibits the proliferation of U251 cells in vitro and in vivo, laying a foundation for further research and development of its anti-glioma effect.

ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVE: To analyze the diagnosis of occupational disease and the detection status of suspected occupational disease and occupational contraindication in recent years in a petrochemical enterprise. METHODS: The data of new cases of occupational disease reported by a petrochemical enterprise from 2008 to 2019, the cases of suspected occupational disease and occupational contraindication from 2015 to 2019 were collected. The related data was descriptively analyzed. RESULTS: A total of 30 new cases of occupational disease were reported in this petrochemical enterprise from 2008 to 2019. Among them, there were 16 cases of occupational noise deafness, 10 cases of chronic occupational benzene poisoning, 2 cases of occupational leukemia caused by benzene, 1 case of occupational solvent gasoline poisoning and 1 case of occupational pneumoconiosis. Among the 30 cases of occupational diseases, 28 cases(93.3%) were related to benzene and noise exposure, and 19 cases(63.3%) came from the chemical and oil refining divisions. From 2015 to 2019 in this petrochemical enterprise, 24 cases of suspected occupational disease were reported, of which 17(70.8%) suspected cases were diagnosed as occupational disease, and 63 cases of occupational contraindication were reported, including 47(74.6%) cases of occupational contraindication caused by noise. CONCLUSION: Benzene and noise should be taken as the key factors of occupational hazard for prevention and control in the petrochemical enterprises, and control measures should be adopted for special operation links and job posts to control the hidden dangers of benzene and noise that exceeds the standard limits.

ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVE@#To investigate the effects of combined infusion of mesenchymal stem cells (MSC) and endothelial progenitor cells (EPC) on lung injury after hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT).@*METHODS@#The experiment was divided into normal control group, irradiation group, bone marrow cell transplantation group (BMT group), BMT+EPC group, BMT+MSC group and BMT+EPC+MSC group. The model of HSCT was established, on the 30th day after transplantation, the mice were sacrificed. Then lung tissue was taken for testing. The mRNA expression levels of VEGF, IL-18, IL-12b were detected by RT-PCR, and protein expression level of NLRP3 was detected by Western blot. The expression of MPO and CD146 was observed by immunohistochemistry assay.@*RESULTS@#The expression level of VEGF gene in BMT+EPC+MSC group was significantly higher than that in other groups (P<0.01). The expression level of IL-18 and IL-12b gene was the highest in BMT group and the lowest in BMT+EPC+MSC group, and the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05). HSCT could increase the expression of NLRP3 protein, and the BMT+EPC+MSC could significantly reduce the level of NLRP3 protein in lung cells, tending to normal. Compared with normal tissues, the BMT+EPC+MSC could improve the lung tissue structure more effectively, the expression of MPO positive cells was lower, and the expression of VEGF positive cells was higher.@*CONCLUSIONS@#The combined infusion of MSC and EPC can promote capillary regeneration, alleviate inflammation and promote lung repair after HSCT, which is superior to single EPC or MSC infusion.

ABSTRACT

The efficacy and safety of Xiao'er Chaigui Tuire Granules for the treatment of hand, foot and mouth disease were syste-matically evaluated. Four Chinese databases of CNKI, CBM, WanFang, VIP and four English databases of PubMed, Cochrane Library, EMbase, Web of Science were retrieved by computers. With Chinese and English words "Xiao'er Chaigui Tuire Granules" "hand, foot and mouth disease" as the subject and keywords, randomized controlled trials(RCT) for the effect of Xiao'er Chaigui Tui-re Granules alone and combined with Western medicine in the treatment of hand, foot and mouth disease were retrieved, and the retrieval time was generally from the establishment of the database to January 20, 2020. Then all the relevant documents that meet the requirements and be included in the quality evaluation standard were screened out, relevant baseline data information was extracted, and a final evaluation was conducted for the quality of relevant literatures. The quality evaluation was conducted by the latest RevMan 5.3 software version-based tools. The reliability of the data relating to the results of the literatures was analyzed by statistical data. A total of 7 RCTs were included. The total sample size was 619, including 321 in the experimental group and 298 in the control group. Meta-analysis results show that: Xiao'er Chaigui Tuire Granules could improve the total clinical effectiveness(RR=1.28, 95%CI[1.11, 1.46], P=0.000 4; RR=1.62, 95%CI[1.06, 2.48], P=0.02); Xiao'er Chaigui Tuire Granules combined with Western medicine could significantly shorten the healing time of oral ulcers in children with hand, foot and mouth disease(MD=-1.11, 95%CI[-1.44,-0.78], P<0.000 01; MD=-2.13, 95%CI[-2.37,-1.89], P<0.000 01; MD=-1.10, 95%CI[-1.38,-0.82], P<0.000 01); on the basis of conventional treatment, Xiao'er Chaigui Tuire Granules combined with Western medicine could reduce the fever time(MD=-1.21, 95%CI[-2.15,-0.27], P=0.01; MD=-1.93, 95%CI[-2.35,-1.51], P<0.000 01; MD=-2.00, 95%CI[-2.60,-1.40], P<0.000 01), with no serious adverse reaction. The results showed that, in the treatment of hand, foot and mouth disease, compared with the conventional treatment method of Western medicine alone, the combined use of Xiao'er Chaigui Tuire Granules had more obvious advantage in effectively shortening the healing time of oral ulcers in children and effectively reducing the antipyretic time. Moreover, it had a better clinical efficacy in treating the patients with hand, foot and mouth disease in the early stage in terms of the improvement and control of symptoms and pathology, with a significantly increased effectiveness and no serious adverse reaction. It could be considered to be combined with therapies based on syndrome differentiation. However, due to the small sample size of clinical studies currently included, and the low quality of clinical studies further included, the quality of the studies included was low, which affected the scientific reliability and quality of the conclusions of the study. Therefore, further clinical results are still required for further confirmation.
